How to use the light therapy lamp
Light therapy is being exposed to a light therapy lamp between 30 minutes to 2 hours (every day). The treatment is more effective in the morning in the evening the treatment may disturb your sleep.
The recommended distance between the lamp and the patients' face is between

Light therapy lamps
A medical light therapy lamp is a source of light which has an intensity of 2500 lux. Halogen lights are not to be used for light therapy. Medically certified therapy lamps have the necessay criteria for light therapy treatment. The light must be continuous (not flicker).
An opaque protective screen which filtres ultra violet rays covers the surface of the light therapy lamp. The intensity is adjusted so that there is as little dazzling to the eyes as possible from the lamp.

Sunrise alarm clock
The sunrise alarm clock allows you to resynchronise your biorhythms by the use of progressive light intensity ommiting the aggression and the stress of the more traditional forms of alarm (alarm clock, radio) which tend to wake you up aggressively, the sunrise or sun set simulation is ideal for a natural and gentle rhythm to falling asleep or awakening. This device has been clinically tested, results show that the secretion of cortisol is optimised. Amongst other hormones cortisol is responsible for the metabolic activity and ensures energy distribution towards the brain at the start of the day.
The dawn simulator also helps babies differentiate between day and night and regulates their biological clocks
Light therapy and the sunrise alarm clock, What is the difference?
The sunrise alarm clock regulates our biorhythms by helping our bodies differentiate between day and night. This allows us to fall asleep alot more easily at night. In the morning the sunrise alarm clock simulates dawn and so enables cortisone secretion, which therefore allows us to wake up naturally (instead of brutally with an alarm clock) and go to sleep naturally.
Light therapy is very different from the dawn simulator. The treatment helps to fight against any problems linked to the lack of natural light. When the light intensity is less than 2000 lux the body secrets melatonin (the sleeping hormone), which then makes us moody, tired and also induces Seasonal Affective Disorder SAD, being exposed to a bright light designed for therapy use, the production of melatonin is blocked, and our energy is regained.
